Bicycles

All bicycles on the University of Mississippi Oxford Campus are required to obtain an annual bicycle permit.  Registration is free and the registration is good for at least four years.

You must register your bike in person at the Ole Miss Bike Shop located across the street from the Turner Center, or at the Department of Parking and Transportation main offices. Please have your serial number, make, model, color and personal information available before you register. You may download the form from <HERE> and pre-fill out the information. Bring the completed form to either the Bike Shop or DPT's main office..

Why is registration required

Mandatory registration helps the University gather data to determine if there are adequate services like bike racks and locations, on campus bike routes and other related amenities. Registration is also the best way to help recover a bicycle in the event it is lost or stolen.

Registration for Visitors

Visitors that frequent the University Campus between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday are still required to obtain a permit/decal for their bicycles. Unlike visitors in cars, the decal is good for a four year period. Visitors must register bicycles in person at the Ole Miss Bike Shop located across the street from the Turner Center, or at the Department of Parking and Transportation main offices. Please have your serial number, make, model, color and personal information available before you register. You may download the form from <HERE> and pre-fill out the information. Other Things to Know

When riding a bike in any public space, a cyclist is required to follow the same rules and regulations as a motorized vehicle. It is the cyclist responsibility to know and understand these regulations. These rules apply to both the University campus and the City of Oxford.

University of Mississippi - Rules and Regulations regarding parking and vehicle use (motorized and non-motorized) can be found HERE. Section 'k' details the bicycle policy but bicycles are referenced in other sections, particularly those related to handicap access areas.

Also, reference University Policy Code UPD.GP.100.002 and DSA.SH.400.004 regarding abandoned bicycles.
